Winter's Day Walk

Winter's back today and gave us another couple of inches of snow. I decided to get out and enjoy the day regardless of the cold weather. I took my dog Jack for a walk down one of the many bike and running trails the DC area has to offer. For today's outing I chose to wear my teal wool coat. This is my go to coat and is great for many reasons. First, I love the color. It's not the typical black wool coat that one can see almost everywhere. It's nice to see a pop of color in the sea of black winter coats. Also, the design is unique. It cuts in at the waist and then flares out. This gives the coat nice movement and makes it that much less ordinary. Finally, it's warm! If you are looking for a coat similar to mine, Nordstrom's carries two you might be interested in, Via Spiga and Guess.

Just a Little Distressed

Today I'm wearing one of my favorite pair of jeans, Gap's 1969 destructed skinny jean. I've had these jeans for just over a year and my love for them has never waned. Their fit is amazing while still comfortable. Another positive is they've held their shape. Unlike much other denim, they haven't stretched out. While distressed denim is always great with t-shirts, it looks equally as good with a dressier blouse, jacket, or sweater. There are endless possible styles. If your looking to find your own distressed denim, Gap has a great pair at a moderate price.

Everyone Needs a Little Sunshine

Today was the most beautiful day of the season thus far! The sun was out as well as everyone else! On days like today, I love to wear bright colored accessories. Wether I'm out running errands or sightseeing in DC, Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac in marigold is the perfect bag. Rebecca Minkoff is one of my favorite mid-range designers, who happens to carry some incredible handbags. First, let's talk leather. I love her leather bags! The quality is superb, and it's so incredibly soft. Her bags are available in some of the most diverse and amazing colors, which would suit anyone's needs. The Mini Mac design is also ingenious. It can be worn three different ways, making your day-to-night transitions all the easier. Personally, I love to wear mine as a cross body. Going hands free has never looked so stylish. For a night out to dinner, I prefer to adjust the chain to the shortest possible length for a dressier look. To find your very own Rebecca Minkoff Mini Mac Zappos, Nordstroms, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Bloomingdales all have a great selection.

Ready to "Dress" Up?

The 'Daisy Chain' Lace Shift Minidress by Free People is on my list of must buys for the upcoming season! This lace and crochet dress looks amazing on. It has a nice slight A-line shape that flatters almost any figure and it also comes fully lined. Add a jean jacket and booties to help transition to spring! It comes in two colors, black and my favorite, white! You can find this dress at Nordstrom and South Moon Under.

It's a Moto Day

One of the great things about fashion is it allows me to express myself through my clothes. Some days I want to go boho, while other days I'm looking for a preppier style. Today, I chose to be edgy. One of my favorite pieces of my outfit is my jacket. It's a great vegan leather moto jacket by Free People. The great thing about a vegan leather jacket is the price point. I can choose to spend around $100 versus over $300 for genuine leather. This jacket is such a fun piece! It obviously looks great with jeans and moto boots. However, it looks equally as nice with a more feminine silhouette such as a sundress.

Chambray Fun

It's fun and sometimes terrifying to see trends come around for the second time. Watching a trend come back is usually met with nostalgia or occasional defiance. However, I am pleased to see the chambray shirt in style again. (I remember back in the day when people just called it a denim shirt!) It's been back for a couple of years and I don't think it's going anywhere. It has finally crossed over into classic style. A classic chambray looks great with almost anything. It's easily paired with colored denim or patterned pants. To change it up, pair it with black leggings and brown boots. The fashion options are endless! Today, I chose to pair my chambray with a patterned skater skirt, textured tights, and booties. I added one of my favorite House of Harlow necklaces to complete the look. If you are looking for a chambray, the gap has a couple of styles that should suit any need.

Bright Blue Blazer

Up here in the DC area we are still in the throes of this long and very cold winter. However at this point, I'm tired of sweaters. I'm tired of wearing them and looking at them. I've found a different way to stay warm and still look stylish. Today, I'm wearing my bright blue boyfriend blazer. The bright color reminds me that spring is just around the corner while still keeping me warm on a cold day. I've styled it with a simple black blouse, dark skinny jeans, and black booties. A long necklace and bracelets complete the look. If your looking for a different way to style a boyfriend blazer for spring, it looks great with a white t-shirt, ripped jeans, and gladiator sandals. Add some cute bright jewelry to complete a perfect spring look. A blazer similar to mine can be found on sale at Macy's.
